Vector Design Class 9/13/2017 Video Links
This was the first day, we went over the basics of where to find everything and touched on the different tools, and the concepts behind working with them. Making housed allowed us to get comfortable with working with primitive shapes.
Class 2: Radial Symmetry / Making a Medallion. 9/20/17
In this class we took a look at how to break things up into grids and how to merge different shapes to make more complex shapes. We took a look at how to distribute objects evenly in a radial fashion in the most efficient way. Peace medallions allowed us to distribute complex shapes and patterns in a radial fashion.
Class 3 - 4: Recreating Objects / People From Reference. 9/27 - 10/4
In this class, we stepped outside of using primitive shapes. In most cases you will be able to build things in a simplified form using primitive shapes, the other 20% of the time you will be asked to recreate things from reference. When you are asked to do this, the best way for a beginner is to trace the objects. Tracing sounds easy, but there is a unique process that needs to be setup that will enable you to use the software like a light box. After you have setup your lightbox environment, choosing the right tools for the task, and how to manipulate each tool can be confusing. We break down all those small details in this class.
Class 5: Building a portfolio. 10/18.
You can make the world's leading designs illustrations and graphics, but what is the point if you can't share with inquiring minds, potential employers or clients. This class we go over a FREE and easy solution to building an online portfolio! After the class is over you can do what you want with your site. I encourage you to get into the habit of uploading all your finished work to your website. If you forget, there is a 80% chance it won't make it to your portfolio. Try to make a habit of it, even if you upload to a hidden page, then in your free time on your phone you can organize it, before publishing.
